Effective numerical methods for simulating diffusion on a spherical surface in three dimensions

چکیده
In order to construct an algorithm for homogeneous diffusive motion that lives on a sphere, we consider the equivalent process of randomly rotating spin vector constant length. By introducing appropriate sets random variables based cross products, families methods with increasing efficacy exactly preserve modulus every realisation. This is done by exponentiating antisymmetric matrix whose entries are these Gaussian in simplest case.

On Numerical Methods for Plasma 3-T Radiation Diffusion in Two and Three Dimensions
Operator-splitting approaches are often used for plasma 3-T radiation diffusion equations, since many linear solvers could not effectively solve the coupled linear system resulted from plasma 3-T radiation diffusion equations. An approach of operator-splitting is proposed for numerically solving plasma 3-T radiation diffusion equations. To resolve sub-cell structure in mixed cells, interface re...
متن کاملNumerical Study on the Reaction Cum Diffusion Process in a Spherical Biocatalyst
In chemical engineering, several processes are represented by singular boundary value problems. In general, classical numerical methods fail to produce good approximations for the singular boundary value problems. In this paper, Chebyshev finite difference (ChFD) method and DTM-Pad´e method, which is a combination of differential transform method (DTM) and Pad´e approximant, are applied for sol...
متن کاملNumerical solutions for the surface diffusion flow in three space dimensions
The surface diffusion flow is a moving boundary problem that has a gradient flow structure, and this gradient flow structure suggests an implicit finite-differences approach to compute numerical solutions. The resulting numerical scheme allows to compute the flow for any smooth orientable immersed initial surface. We provide an analytical proof of this gradient structure, and construct a discre...
متن کاملNumerical Evaluation of Surface Integrals in Three Dimensions
In this paper, we consider the evaluation of surface integrals over piecewise smooth surfaces in three dimensions. The method consists in first replacing a parametrization for the surface and the integrand function by piecewise polynomial interpolants of them, and second, using a numerical integration scheme for the resulting integral. The order of convergence is higher than would be expected b...
